PALMYRA

Thanks to the members of the Fire & Rescue that gave their time and gas to help clean up after the storm.

Sunday, June 25th a storm ripped through Palmyra leaving limbs, brush and entire trees down or savagely damaged. Winds measuring up to 70 mph caused damage citywide.

Numerous members of the Palmyra Fire & Rescue, as well as members of the community, took time out of their Memorial Day to cut, load & haul debris to the dump. Several individuals over the course of the entire day made a significant difference on the aftermath of this storm.

Thanks again to those that chipped in.

Incidents:

Congratulations to Rich, Rex, Tony, Jim & Bill on becoming Firefighter I certified.

These five individuals of the Palmyra Volunteer Fire Department passed a written test as well as a series of skills tests, conducted by the Nebraska Fire Marshal’s Training Division, to become certified Firefighter I. The tests were completed after devoting one weekend a month over the course of eight months to classroom study and training.

This was not a requirement of the department or the state and was undertaken for the sake of improving themselves as firefighters.

Special acknowledgment to a couple of individuals who put in the time and effort but were unable to pass a portion of the tests. They are no less firefighters than the others.
